A first step toward tech education in Mozambique:
The Algorithmics and Young Africa Partnership
Access to quality IT education remains one of the strongest drivers of social mobility in the modern world. The issue is especially acute in countries where digital infrastructure is still taking shape and where opportunities for girls and young women to enter technical professions have historically been limited. Today, we want to share the story of a project designed to change that picture in Mozambique - our partnership with Young Africa Mozambique and the first cohort of 200 students beginning their journey into programming.
A Year of Preparation: How the Partnership came together
Launching an educational program in a new country is always a long process, and the technical side is rarely the hardest part. The team led by our partner, Fred M. Nyembue, worked toward this moment for more than a year. Along the way, the team faced a challenging market, logistical hurdles, and the need to adapt the product to the local context.
The turning point came when the team rethought its go-to-market strategy. Instead of focusing solely on direct sales to end customers, they shifted toward institutional partnerships.
Betting on B2B Partnerships
This approach proved to be the right one. Rather than acquiring students one at a time, the program now reaches entire groups through the infrastructure of a trusted partner organization. In markets with a developing educational ecosystem, this is often the only viable path to scale.

Young Africa Mozambique is an organization that has worked with youth in the country for years and brings deep insight into local educational needs. The alignment of values - both teams believe that technology education can change the life trajectory of a child from any social background - became the foundation of this collaboration.
We added another dimension to our B2B approach by building partnerships with influential organizations. I personally made a physical presentation to the organization's leadership, and they really fell in love with our product. We signed our partnership.

The First Cohort: 95 girls already learning, 105 more on the way
Fred and his team are now running the first cohort of 95 students through two intensive courses. Another 105 students are already enrolled for the next round.
The intensive format was a deliberate choice. As Fred notes, the demanding schedule "pushes them to remain very focused and exercise more." Concentrated learning helps students cross the initial barrier faster - the moment when programming stops feeling abstract and starts looking like a tool they can actually use.
The Real Vision: Not just skills, but a chanhe in trajectory
Behind the numbers and the course formats lies a deeper goal. When asked what practical change he hopes to see in these children's lives, Fred answered:
"Our expectations are having these 200 girls falling in love with the coding universe. We also wish that the girls trigger their inner computer entrepreneurial skills so they can visualize a brighter future. We want them to become junior actors in the dynamic of the transformation of their respective communities, potential Algorithmics Ambassadors."
These words capture a mission that reaches far beyond a single course. This is not only about teaching children to write code. It is about shaping a generation that sees technology as a tool for transforming their own lives and the communities they belong to.
What Comes Next: A long-term strategy in the region
For Algorithmics, the launch in Mozambique is a first step in a broader strategy. The goal is not a one-time educational initiative, but a sustainable infrastructure that gives children in the country continuous access to high-quality tech education.
That means scaling the program, training local instructors, building an alumni community, and gradually turning the "ambassadors" Fred talks about into mentors for the next generations of students.

The launch in Mozambique is a story of a team that spent more than a year persisting toward this moment, of the power of well-built partnerships, and of the belief that high-quality IT education should be available wherever talented children live. We thank Fred and his entire team for their resilience, and the team at Young Africa Mozambique for trusting our product and walking this path with us.
